Occasional Table - Generic term for decorative, small tables such as end tables, coffee tables, lamp tables, etc. Ogee - A classical molding with a double curve or cyma profile, as in an ogee bracket foot. Old Growth (Virgin Timber) - Old, naturally established trees often characterized by dense straight grain and a lack of knots and defects. Ormolu - French term for a type of cast bronze ornament finished by hand chasing and surfaced with gold. Also known as gilt bronze or bronze dore. Often used to refer to bronze furniture mounts enhanced by gliding. Open Coat - A piece of sandpaper with abrasive particles that are spread out to prevent clogging. Oriental Lacquer - Oriental varnish obtained from the sap of the lacquer tree. Gave a high-gloss finish to furniture in Europe in the 17th century. Mother of pearl, coral, and metals were often inlaid in the lacquer to create a decorative effect.
